Chalford Baptist Church started in a cottage around 1740. The present building was opened in 1874 and was given the name “The Tabernacle”. At present we do not have a Minister but we are well served by visiting speakers at our Sunday morning services. We enjoy a shared meal on the second Sunday of the month. We are not a large congregation, but we “punch above our weight”.
We are the local centre for Samara’s Aid, a charity providing help to the war-torn areas of the Middle East, in particular Syria. With the help of the community, a huge amount of good quality clothing and hand-made blankets have been sent over the last year or so to help those who have lost everything. Special care packs have also been sent. In addition money has been raised towards transport costs and medical care.
A very friendly “Drop-In” group with a varied programme of activities meets on Wednesday mornings and is for anyone in the area. Other activities include helping with a local youth group called Pulsar, and a team goes into the local primary school each week with “Open the Book”.
Anyone visiting Chalford Baptist will always receive a warm welcome!
